NOREBO STARTS SUPPLYING BOREALIS PRODUCTS TO RETAIL CHAINS

Norebo starts supplying its products under the Borealis brand to Russian retail chains. Borealis products will be supplied to such retail chains as Metro, Azbuka Vkusa, Karusel, Lenta and Hyperglobus. Moscow residents will be the first to try Borealis products. Afterwards, Murmansk and St. Petersburg residents will have a chance to try Borealis wild fish.

Single frozen Borealis products will be supplied in skin-packaging and double-vacuum packaging. Skin-packaging is an innovation in the category! The combination of a plastic tray, high barrier film and vacuum is used to create the pack that fits around the product like a second skin. Such a type of packaging in a natural way demonstrates the quality, freshness, color and structure of the product while fixing and protecting it. Double-vacuum packaging used to be the most innovative packaging solution in the fish category before the release of Borealis with skin-packing. The inner layer of double-vacuum packaging protects products from the negative impact of light rays and ensures safety of products while the external packaging contains all the necessary information about the product.

Nowadays, we are ready to offer 7 products in skin-packaging and 20 products in double-vacuum packaging. Cod loins and central parts, squid fillet, halibut steaks and cod cheeks and tongues are offered in skin-packaging. Cod fillet, skin on fillet and steaks, haddock fillet and skin on fillet, redfish steaks, catfish steaks, pollock and cod skinless boneless scramble pack fillet, minced pollock and minced cod, headed and gutted cod, redfish, pollock and halibut, whole mackerel and herring are presented in double-vacuum packaging.

THE OPENING OF A COASTAL FISH PROCESSING FACTORY

We opened a fish processing factory in Murmansk. The factory of 55 000 sq. m. is located on the shore of the Kola Bay.

The commissioning of the largest fish processing complex in the region will make a significant contribution to the development of the national fish industry and strengthening of the country's food security. Moreover, it will have a positive effect at the satisfaction of consumers' demand in chilled and single frozen fish products of high quality.

"The opening of the factory is an important event for the country. The launch of such a large project indicates a significant industrial potential of the Murmansk region. Nowadays it is important to use effectively marine bioresources by means of increasing the depth of processing of extracted raw materials, using wasteless technologies and involving secondary resources in economic circulation. It will help to increase the output of products from each ton of caught fish. It will positively influence the competitiveness of our fishing industry. The new factory is an important step in the development of coastal fish processing in the region," said the head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov.

The launching of the modern fish processing factory started in 2014. An enterprise that had not been operating for more than 5 years was purchased in Minkino village. Numerous repairs were carried out. The fish processing plant was redesigned to fit in new technological lines. Communications were replaced and the bottom of the berth area was cleaned. The berth was extended to 94 meters so that to unload the catches from the vessels, the equipment was installed and the personnel was trained.
The investments in the establishment of the factory are more than 1.4 billion rubles.

"Fish production in the Murmansk region is one of the priority areas within the region. Step by step, such factories are being opened in the region. The main goal of the authorities is to create conditions for the rapid implementation of such projects. By means of launching the "Polar Sea +" fish processing factory we realize in practice the policy of the Government of the Russian Federation in terms of the development of the fishing industry. We also solve social problems of people who live in the village. More than 100 jobs will be offered to people after the opening of the factory" –  Marina Kovtun, the Governor of the Murmansk region.

The production includes the whole technological process including the fishing of cod, haddock, redfish, mackerel and other species using modernized vessels, chilled and frozen at sea fish processing, its storage and delivery to supermarkets. The quality control system and the ability to trace the whole way the fish makes provides the total traceability of products from the sea to a supermarket or restaurant.

The “Polar Sea+” fish processing company is constructed in the way to work with chilled raw materials so that to produce chilled and frozen fish products including products of a premium class. The uniqueness of the project is based on the implementation of an innovative technology called “superchilling” developed by Skaginn (Iceland). The core idea of the technology is based on deep chilling of fish products to the temperature close to cryoscopic right after lifting the trawl. Such a temperature is maintained during the whole process from production to storage at a supermarket. Superchilling allows to get products of the highest quality.

We use modern European technologies for production and packaging that allow to save the highest quality of our products. The usage of such technologies in packaging within the Russian market is totally a new solution that helps to increase the shelf life of products without influencing its quality.
The factory follows the principle of maximum utilization of raw materials that indicates that fish heads and spines and by-products will be processed. In future we are planning to construct production facilities to produce semi-finished and canned products.

The rated capacity of the factory is 12 thousand tons of fish products per year. The volume of frozen fish is about 40 tons per day. The warehouse is designed for storage of 1,000 tons of raw materials and products. "Russia is the world leader in fish production and only high-quality products should be on the shelves within the domestic market. Our responsibility is to ensure that fresh fish is processes in the shortest possible time. There are no analogues of the “Polar Sea+” factory in Russia. We purchased the newest equipment and implemented the latest technologies in the fish processing industry"  Vitaly Orlov, the director of LLC Management Company "Norebo".

The raw materials for the fish processing factory will be supplied at the expense of the coastal and industrial quota of the holding and the products will be delivered to the markets of the Murmansk, Leningrad and Moscow regions and the Northwest and the Central Russia. Moreover, some of the products will be supplied to the main foreign markets. Two medium-tonnage freezing trawlers equipped with stations for the production of liquid ice will be used to deliver chilled raw materials to the factory. Frozen at sea raw materials will be delivered by freezing trawlers owned by the holding.
