Redfish is a shoal fish. However, redfish does not create such large shoals as cod. Redfish eats capelin, young fish of other specifies and shrimps. It usually stays at stony ground and at a bottom layer. The color of the fish changes several times during its life. Redfish becomes bright red when it eats shrimps and whiter when eats only fish. That is why the myths about the fact that producers color the fish are just myths. Different types of redfish can be distinguished by the shape of their head. We catch redfish in the Barents Sea and in the Atlantic Ocean. During the 20th century redfish was sold with head and it scared customers with its bulging eyes. It is caught at the depth of 300-400 m and because of fast lifting of a trawl eyes of redfish become even more bulging.
A lot has been changed since that time. Not only the technology of fish gutting but also the philosophy of fish processing has been changed. Nowadays, redfish is sold in headed and gutted state. Redfish is one of the tastiest fish we produce. Even the largest redfish is juicy and soft. We offer such redfish products as steaks and headed and gutted redfish.
